Sicut in caelo, et in terra
Sicut in caelo, et in terra
120 x 90 x 3,5 cm
Oil on canvas
A soul caught between heaven and earth. Three figures pull at it, but the light is calling. "Sicut in caelo" - as in heaven - the soul rises, leaving behind the weight of the world. "Et in terra" - the cross, deeply rooted in the earth, is a reminder of sacrifice and the suffering we all face in this life.
The words from the Lord's Prayer show that the spiritual and physical world are not seperate. Everything is connected - what happens in heaven (our inner world) will also show on earth (our actions). Our outer lifer reflects our inner state. When we find peace inside, we bring peace into the world. Spiritual growth means finding "heaven" within ourselves and share it with the world.
